Home window tinting looks good, but how can you truly evaluate if the tint actively reduces heat and glare? Quantifying performance requires strategic testing. Below are three key methods we recommend you use to validate heat rejection and anti-glare functionality in our home window tinting process.

Three Ways to Know Your Window Tinting Blocks Heat and Glare

  • Check Interior Temperature Changes. Before-and-after temperature measurements inside rooms provide real proof of heat resistance. Using an indoor/outdoor thermometer for 24 hours pre-tinting, record peak temperature variations. Repeat testing post-installation for comparison. If installed film reflects substantial infrared heat, interior readings should remain lower compared to previous highs. Drops of several degrees confirm success.
  • Observe Exterior Tint Reflectivity. Quality heat-rejecting window tinting contains special metallic particles to reflect radiation. When viewing these films from exterior vantage points and sight lines, a mirror-like reflectivity becomes apparent – especially under bright sunlight. Sharp reflections that change intensity with sun angles verify the film is working. Lacking such external reflectivity under the same outdoor conditions means minimal energy deflection.
  • Gauge Glare Difference at Problem Times. Direct pre-noon sunlight causes uncomfortable glare through untreated windows. Eye strain looking toward these problem spots should be reduced significantly after we install home window tinting. If squinting and disruptive reflections continue despite window tinting, then your film is not strong enough to block the glare. With our years of experience installing window tinting on vehicles and buildings, we can select the appropriate film for your situation.

These are a few things you can do to check if your current home window tinting is performing as it should. If you find out the tint is inadequate for what you want, which is a cooler, glare-free environment, contact us to select and install the perfect film solution. Significantly lower solar heat gain and glare through your windows right away this season.
